I have printed Robert's table. Much as I would like to buy the book online, by the time I do a US to NZ currency conversion and add freight (almost as much as the book) I find it hard to justify the purchase.
I have read some of the forum archives about Martelli. There is lots of interesting material - it is well worth a read. To paraphrase one of the messages: at the end of the19th century/early 20th century the supporters of the long by chron/noon sight method were fighting a rear guard action action against the St Hilaire method. The various Martelli threads confirm what I was trying to say in my original thread that "new improved methods" were based on well known principles. I note that, perhaps tongue in cheek, Robert suggests that his tables are New! Improved!
