http://www.flickr.com/photos/gregrudzinski/3725480860/ The linked DSLR 50mm photograph of the Sun using my dollar store sextant prototype generated an LOP azimuth of 100.2 true and an intercept of 10.3' away from an assumed position of 34 00' N and 119 20' W. There is additional information in the photograph that will provide a fix. 1. What island are you looking at? 2. What is the vessels Latitude and Longitude? 3. Is there enough water under the keel for the USNS Port Royal? 4. What might be onboard besides the navigator? Hints - Use charts #18720 & #18729 - Also consult google earth and flash earth. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ NavList message boards: www.fer3.com/arc Or post by email to: NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
