    Hi Robert,
    Hexane for all practical purposes can be considered insoluble having a very low solubility of 9.5mgL-1, however one problem with Hexane, remote to be honest for our application, is that when very small particles of Hexane are present in water can lead to explosive mixture due to the difference in vapor pressure. You can look at the NFPA-704 classification of both: Xylene has a 2/3/0 blue/red/yellow, Hexane has a 2/4/0.
