Frank,
Thank you for another extremely interesting and really superb reply to an initial query by Peter Hakel in [NavList 11189] dated 15 Dec 2009 19:37.
I personnally enjoyed very much your historical overview/revival of the "Chronology of the nautical almanacs".
******
For our current times, I understand that the sources of the following Nautical and Astronomical Almanacs are essentially :
- the JPL DE20x/LE20x theories by JPL (all being Numerical Integrations) for the US/UK Astronomical and Nautical Almanacs, with the same data being supplied to other parties for them to publish into their own Nautical Almanacs in their own languages and presentations, and
- the Bureau des Longitudes VSOP / ELP theories (Analytical Theories) for the Connaissance des Temps and the French Nautical Almanac.
ONE QUESTION : Are there other different theories currently being the source of either Astronomical or Nautical Almanacs in other countries ?
Best Regards to all
Antoine
