I would, but don't have anything that will open a .docx file, can you re-send that in either text or MS Word format?

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with any of the theories out there (except maybe that they were captured and executed by the Japanese - that one's pretty much been disproven since a post-war investigation of their files turned up no evidence that they were involved in the disappearance).

And now that I think about it (and refresh my mind about the geography involved), this latest theory doesn't seem to hold water, either - unless there was some really anomalous propagation that day to explain the signal strength 5 radio reports that the Itasca logged.

Anyone know if there were any other reliable RDF bearings on her last radio transmissions (from a different location than the Itasca)? That would be a good place to start a search, but I'm assuming if they had that to work with that someone would had thought of it.

Except that the "extensive search" was on the ocean and many planes have disappeared over the ocean without a trace. See attached partial listing.

You raise a good point, but the extensive search that was launched
immediately after the disappearance failed to turn up anything - so the
obvious conclusion is that the plane went down elsewhere (possibly far from
the radius of the original search).

And maybe it wasn't an "error in navigation" - I wonder if it's possible
that they realized that they weren't going to make their original
destination (Howland  Island), and changed course hoping to re-fuel
elsewhere but ran out of fuel before reaching the new destination?
