    Greg,

    I noticed this reference to Loran as well, and wondered if it meant the US was bringing it back.  

    My second thought was that perhaps LORAN is still operational in Europe, and this chapter would be mostly relevant there.  But checking Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loran-C#Loran-C_in_the_21th_century suggested that LORAN went offline in Europe on Dec. 31, 2015.

    So my third thought is a somewhat whimsical one that they managed to publish Bowditch not only without a table of contents, and with two completely different tables as "Table 34", but with the inclusion of an entire chapter that is relevant nowhere in the world.

    It is not really that Captain Connon needed another cup of coffee before hitting the "Upload" button...but that the project actually needed a general editor.  An averagely bright high school graduate who had fun in his or her English classes could have done the job.  But evidently, these volumes were released with all the thoughtfulness of a late-night-Tweet.
