Re a zenith fix on Polaris at the North Pole: One further thought, the closer to the Pole you were, the less accurate your watch could be, and at the pole itself, you wouldn’t need a watch at all, because Ho would be constant at 89 20.1’ (according to ‘Navigator’) give or take a year or so. The PZX triangle would now a be 39.9nm line rotating around the Pole. Perhaps they could try it with Sigma Octantis at the South Pole Station. That line would be 63nm long. DaveP
