Thanks Dave for the feedback on star identification.

First how did you get the photo you are working with? I printed out the file on my printer and could see far fewer stars than you. What is your secret.

I had 7 oclock 2-moon dia star miss identified and star at 11 oclock 1-moon dia miss identified. Taking your identification of those stars as corect I have established a RA coordinate system for the picture which gives a nice linear plot of RA versus position on the photo. Now I have some problem with the Dec scale but it is quite linear only I have an offset. IE I'm confused about were the zero is which was based on my identification of Uranus. This could be distortion from field of view but my orientation of the coordinate system depended on uranus and 28 Piscium defining 0/24 RA

Ignoring those issues I now position the apparent Moon at 4d 5m N Dec 23h 46m 32s RA.

correction for parallax = (6378 km + 355km)/384.4*10^3= .0175 rad

or 1.003 degrees at 45 to Dec and RA

puts moon at

4d 5m N Dec
23h 46m 32s RA

based on the Dec almanac would say the photo was taken at 3/6/11 GMT 02h 20.6m

based on the RA almanac would say 3/6/11 GMT 02h 48.5m

Considering my planetarium software and as my answer returned GMT 02:35
I'm back to my position as 45 N 105 W, but that is subject to great error.

Further the space station seems to have been nowhere near there at that time though I don't really understand what that web sight says so I'll wait to worry about that.
