Marcel,
You have drawn in a curved red line on your diagram which is the actual light path. On my diagram a straight line is used to represent the straight line of sight that the observer sees the body. Like comparing a rifles hold over sight point with the actual path of a bullet. There is no conflict with the two presentations.
