An Australian correspondent tells me- "You may be aware last Monday, Endeavour on the homeward leg from the UK, to be permanently moored at The Australian National Maritime Museum @ Darling Harbour, ran aground on a sand bank in Botany Bay, opposite Cook's landing place at Kurnell. Captain Blake's chagrin was commented on in the Sydney papers(thin lipped and not amused), having twice circumnavigated the world without mishap. It had to be towed off with three tugs and a rising tide. Some of the false base timbers were damaged."
