Another great book is Ben Finney's 1994 book, "Voyage of Rediscovery: A Cultural Odyssey through Polynesia." It details several long voyages by the Hokule'a and goes into considerable detail on the navigation problems. The central chapters are written chronologically (almost a log style) and include quite a few figures showing courses, dr positions, etc. It is thus a nice compliment to other books that describe Pacific ethno-navigation systems generally. I have read nearly every English language book on the subject from Makemson onwards, and "voyage" definitely is an important contribution to the literature, and a darn good read besides. -p
