Thanks Kieran. Since tea works with stars, perhaps it will also work with the daytime moon. I checked again, and the cold tea still recovers from ripples better than water. For me this is not much of an advantage, since I made an artificial horizon that that's light, stows well, sets up quickly, and works fine with water in any sort of gale I'd care to be out in. But if I can get stars and the daytime moon in tea, that IS an advantage. Hope to try it soon. Also if, in fairly still air, I can do without the wind shield it will be much easier to get altitudes of different bodies. Bruce
