I'm making do with a black plastic plumbing fitting from the local hardware store, but I would like to buy a trim aluminum base. Even if it doesn't fit in the wooden box, it should allow the instrument to sit better on my plane table. I suppose I should fit the base to my car, but all the land here is divided by the roads into rectangles one mile wide (80 chains E-W) by two miles tall (160 miles N-S) so it seems a bit pointless. -- Richard . . .
