Gentlemen,
Have a look at the astro compass listed on e-bay
here:
Can anyone identify the object that has been
attached to the sighting vane? The only think I can think of is that
someone may have attached a level to it for land surveying.
I've seen a lot of astro compasses but none with
this odd fixture.
