There is a popular theory about Vikings and Basques, there is a village; Hondarribia/Fuenterrabia in the border with France, a lot of people has blonde hair and blue eyes, probably derived from the Viking settlement that was there.
In the Basque Country, today it remains a sport derived from the whalers: the regattas (the boat it called trainera, see pic).
As a curiosity see the shields attached of several Basque towns with a whale in it.
