I have to admit that my mild criticism is just a product of my own mental sloth. I just can't be bothered memorizing yet more nautica. I wonder if this was the pattern that led to the demise of "boxing the compass"? This is yet another quirk of the nautical world that I could never fathom. I guess I am a heretic at heart.
