The Cruising World article mentioned in postings recently was a terrible
article, and received many complaining "letters to the editor", of which
mine was one.  Of course the sextant errors reported were beyond the pale,
and their magnitude was an embarassment to proponents of CN.  As I recall,
the author, in answering the letters, confessed to a very relaxed atmosphere
and to using people who happened to be on hand, regardless of training, to
conduct the tests.  He also told me this on the phone. So much for magazine
"project" articles.
