Bias and cocked hats

Indeed, a nice summary by Bill Noyce.
He asks an interesting and I think leading question, specific enough to answer with the results of a calculation.
I used a modified version of the Monte Carlo program previously listed with 3 sights at AZ of 45, 105, and 165. As Bill, says, the larger the bias, the further away from the true location, and the smaller the chance of being in the cocked hat.
the plot shows the probability distribution as before as a function of bias in min for a random error with a SD of 1 min.
Also shown are 20 of the triangles (cocked hats) from the zero bias case and 20 from a bias of 3 case to exaggerate the effect. The triangles are larger and moving away along the 105 deg line as expected.
Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
