I had hoped that the expertise assembled here would have been able to
express an opinion on how the captain would have been thinking on
25th of October. I think some informed speculation by some of the
many here who are qualified would be of interest and will not

Given that fact that being smashed to matchwood in New London seemed
to be pretty much a certainty, was it worth a risk to take Bounty out
of New London to try and save her?

Were there more sheltered harbours nearby in which she could have
sheltered - Mystic perhaps? (Anybody know what happened to the Peking
at the bottom end of Manhatten? Or the Charles W Morgan in Mystic?)

If you had taken Bounty out into deep water, could you have run
North? Or East? Should or could any decision to head out of New
London have been taken earlier and was it too late by 25th of October?
