Appears coiled to me. View larger photo with zoom. The central section is much thicker than the leads on the outside, leading to the coiled conclusion.

I found a bulb and considered it for a MK IX but Bill Morris (I think) said he thought it would be too dim. I later got the installed bulbs working and never went any further.
There is a photo of the bulb and there may be a coiled filament wire. I can't tell for sure.http://www.servicelighting.com/catalog_product.cfm?prod2=MB03250
