He even wrote some of his own navigation software. He took his son along on one of these big trips as a "rite of passage" into manhood. All of this was very inspiring to me as a young teenager in the 70s and helped me get more into celestial nav. Buckley also made a VHS tape describing celestial nav. He will be missed.
