Well, it's been a week since I received my Bulova Precisionist. I really like this watch. It's heavy, and bigger than I expected. But not too heavy or too big for my taste. I had almost forgotten how much I like analogue watches. I chose this particular model for three reasons: an easy-to-read dial with Arabic numerals (not that I have anything against Roman), a metal bracelet as opposed to a leather/fabric/rubber band, and it has the chronograph functionality. Now, I can't think of any situations in my life which require 1/1000 of a second precision timing (and I doubt it could even be achieved by a person pushing a button), but that tiny hand at the top of the dial moving so fast you almost can't see it looks cool. :)

As for the watch's accuracy, so far it seems to be ~0.6 seconds fast after checking against two Casio radio updated watches, USNO's animated online clock and an Android app. That's outside the enevelope of the ~0.2 seconds/week target, but the claim is +/- 10 seconds/year. I've seen data online that suggests what I am seeing now does not indicate a problem. In other words, the watch may slow back down over the next few months, staying well inside the envelope.

I did discover a very, very tiny chip in the stainless steel case. Almost too small to notice. I suspect this may be one reason I got it so cheap. That, and the fact that Bulova has decided to remove their famous tuning fork logo from all but their new Accutron II watches. My watch retains the logo, and I'm glad. I rather like it. As for the chip...at a savings of 70%, I really don't mind it. Although it does aggravate my obsessiveness a bit. ;)

    Cheers,

    Sean C.
