Jean, Yes that is a good example of a US Navy Mark 3 M.Low. I believe the M.Low was made in the U.S. under an arrangement with C. Plath. I actually have one of these and they are smooth. At some point after 1970 C.Path changed from a long cone index arm
bearing to a shorter cylindrical bearing. The Mark 3 has perhaps the best grip of any manufactured sextant as well as extended legs which allows the navigator to grip the instrument while it is still set on the chart table. $800 would be a good price for a complete sextant and notice in the sextant box that there is a second set of mirrors.
