I recently realized that I can easily import data from MICA into MS Excel using the "text to columns" feature. This allows me to create all sorts of interesting tables and charts. For example: I whipped up the attached graph of calculated altitudes of the sun, moon and navigational planets for this week at my location. After studying it for a short while, I noticed one can glean quite a bit of useful information from it, such as:
- Rise, set and transit times
- Approximate times of twilight
- Times and duration of visibility
- Approximate phase of the moon
- Approximate equation of time
- Suitablity of a body for lunars
- Altitude at a particular time
- ...and probably a lot more
I'm going to mess around with it some more and see what else I can come up with. Suggestions are welcome.
