Hi, I wrote a number of Excel spreadsheets for celestial navigation in the past (NAVTAB) and published them on my web site. People said they worked quite well but others complained they couldn't use them because they didn't have Excel (probably due to high price). Presently I am playing around with JavaScript which seems to be very useful for writing small programs for technical and scientific applications. Interactive HTML forms containing JavaScript code provide the full functionality of a spreadsheet with the exception that they do not store data after leaving the program (which is tolerable). JavaScript programs are very compact (a couple of kB only) and require only a web browser (e.g.; Netscape Navigator).
