     40 South wrote ...

40 South crosses the west coast of the north island just to the south of Wanganui, then about 10 kilometres further to the east it crosses the west coast road and rail line, just to the north of a little place called Turakina.  It then crosses the Whangaehu then the Turakina Rivers on their near-level floodlplains, before heading into the hills, where it crosses the Rangitikei River then other smaller rivers draining to the west, passing to the south of another little place called Apiti.

Then the crest of the Ruahine Range is traversed, and the land slopes down steeply to another extensive river system: the Tukituki.

40 South appears to cut right across Waipukurau on the eastern north/south road,  in what looks like good farming land, before exiting what looks like an undeveloped coast.
