If you drive on I-80 from Indiana to Ohio or vice versa, you cross the
present boundary between Chicago time and New York time (since Indiana is still
on Eastern Standard while Ohio is on Eastern Daylight, this is not techically a
time zone boundary but it is effectively one). I did both directions recently
and checked my cell phone every milepost to see what time it was displaying. And
yes, yes I was bored!
Results:
Heading eastbound into Ohio, my spintpcs phone displayed Chicago time
about three miles deep into Ohio. Then it dropped signal and did not pick
up New York time until about two miles later.
Heading westbound into Indiana, I had a strong signal from Ohio up to the
border, and the phone continued to display New York time two miles deep into
Indiana.
Seems inconsistent but perhaps the westernmost cell on I-80 in Ohio was
temporarily down on the eastbound trip. Just thought I would bring this up since
we discussed the matter here a few weeks ago...
