    Chihae, Korea Lunar

    Hello all,

Fortune has not been kind to me this trip in the navigation department.  The ship is stuck in Chinhae, ROK at the moment and so I won't likely be getting any Celestial navigation in anytime soon.  The haze and often cloudy weather this time of year will hamper even my lunar efforts.  Fortunately, we face south, so there was a nice opportunity to shoot a set of lunars the other day.  Here is the data for those who want to play with the number.

As a side bar, without everyday Internet access, I am relying on Arthur Pearson's spreadsheet to run the calculations.  I have Bruce Starke's tables with me, but I have been too busy to dedicate the time required to reduce with them.

I'm afraid it's not a very good "grouping" but given the low altitude of the sun and haze, it was hard to get the shades correct for a good arc and there might have been some non-standard refraction as well.  My straight averaging of Ds and time gave me a GMT of 08h 4m 55s with an error of 1min 11 seconds fast (0.5' error in observation).  I hope other reduction methods are at least close.

    Jeremy
