Many places in the higher country of southern Australia and in Tasmania have experienced white Christmases from time to time. For example, on Christmas morning in 1968 in Canberra I awoke to a blanket of white. Today, as I pack the ice and champagne in the esky in preparation for a visit to nearby Canberra and family, the temperature is 32C, with a brilliant blue sky. I have taken the liberty of redrafting your salutation to reflect these contrasts: Merry Chrismas to all list members.....from the land down under, a land of surprises and contrasts. Lee Martin PS By the way, did you ever find a place to resilver your sextant mirrors?
