    I guess I made the mistake of addressing two separate
    topics in one email:
    
    1. Longitude by equal altitudes before and after LAN,
    which I described (I hope clearly enough) as an
    approximate (or "lifeboat navigation") method, and
    
    2. Time sights at the time of prime vertical crossing.
