Byron,
A flight reservation has been confirmed for a starboard side window seat departing Los Angeles UT 06:45 on 15 January 2012 and arriving Orlando UT 11:15 same date. Flight time 4 hours 30 minutes.
Pre-calculated azimuth and Hc values have been worked up at 4 minute intervals for Sirius (mag -1.5), Alphard (mag 1.0), Mars (mag -0.1), Spice (mag 1.0), Polaris (mag 2.0) and Moon. Polaris is to be observed on the aircrafts port side if the flight attendant lets me use the galley window. Refraction at 30,000 feet is 0 to 1'. Coriolis 6' to right of track. A-7 Bendix Index correction -3'. Unknown will be window refraction. I have set up two pieces of plex and did test observations from my boat dock and didn't notice any difference on average vs. a clean air view. There may be window condensation to contend with also. Averager and astigmatizer observations will be made as well. The premium observation will be those exactly on the beam so as to determine cross track error.
