Comparison, Pan of Oil vs Mirror Artificial Horizon
    From: Marty Lyons
    Date: 2015 Jun 22, 11:28 -0700

I made a mirror artificial horizon and never compared it to a liquid AH until today. Took 12 alternating shots of the sun this morning, and got the following results:

    Mirror Artificial Horizon,    2.5 Nm T, 2.4 T, 1.7 T, 3.9 T, 4.4 T, 0.4 T      2.55 Nm Average

    Pan of Oil,                     1.6 T, 2.4 T, 1.7 T, 2.2 T, 2.5 T, 2.8 T            2.2 Nm Average

During the test the oil pan was more difficult to use due to shimmer. I had them on a concrete pool patio, enclosed in a wooden fence. Of course the pan of oil leaked onto the concrete, and after using a can of carb cleaner to remove it, the stain is still there. Now how to explain that to the powers that be? I'll stick with the mirror from now on.
