    Interesting.  My decades old Type 7 baseplate model does indeed say "Type 7
    NL" in red ink.
    
    NL = North latitudes?
    
    My Ranger Type 15 (now Type 15 TDCL) which must be at least a decade old,
    does not have any such zone that I can find with reading/magnifying glasses.
    Exactly where on the baseplate did you locate the inscription?
