I have been looking at a berth as crew for the Annapolis-Bermuda race, and although I doubt the boat will be competitive this first year (new boat/new crew), it might be interesting to shoot for Ocean Navigator's award for the best navigation log, if only to challenge myself a bit. Given that the award is based on the best log which includes CELNAV (and pilotage/DR, electronic, etc.), I'd be interested in other list member's thoughts on what they might consider to be both essentials (usual pre-GPS CELNAV routines; complete deck log, GPS track, etc.) and those extras which might set the effort apart (sea/air temp, luners to back up GPS and watch time, etc.). Looking for ideas on what might be doable within the framework of a 5 to 8 day race down the Chesapeake to Norfolk, then to Bermuda. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Navigation List archive: www.fer3.com/arc To post, email NavList@fer3.com To , email NavList-@fer3.com -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
