    Another nice paper- showing some real photonic data. In this case, instead of occultation, the brightness of the satellite was plotted as it went into the shadow of Jupiter (eclipse,as opposed to occultation), which the author notes is much more precise, since the edge of Jupiter is ill-defined. It also has the advantage of being able to preclude the light from Jupiter, since the two bodies will be separated. Now, in order get a clean signal, an occulting disc can be placed at the objective focal plane to get rid of the light from Jupiter.

    Sorry, were the Cook's satellite observations done by eclipse or by occultation?
