    The only way to have a more readable
    scale is to build a larger instrument.
    
    I have made a large scale, which can
    be found on the web at:

    this is the scale for a 514mm radius octant
    (about 20 inches). In this scale, each degree
    is 9mm wide ( 1/3"). This is what I call the
    Bowditch octant scale.
    
    The scale must be printed with 300 DPI resolution.
    Print it and check if the size is suitable for
    your vision. If it's not, we can try an even
    bigger.
