Forget wallet cards and tattoos -- I'm going to have my pants modified so there's one (zipper-closed) pocket with the current Nautical Almanac in it, another pocket with a sextant in it (a full-fledged Astro might be a bit too heavy, though) and a third pocket with a solar-powered calculator and a solar-powered quartz watch.
"Lumpy" will be my new nickname!

I carry in my briefcase two of those one meter measuring tapes that you get for free at Ikea, taped end to end making one tape two meters long. It rolls up into a tube 18mm in diameter and weighs 0.06 ounces. I also carry a small bubble level.

Date: Sunday, July 15, 2012, 10:52 AMAlex, I have basic celestial on a pair of "credit cards" and that includes a micro sightreduction table (log secant/cosecant of every 10' from 0-180°)
with formulas and a "world map"
also it has a sun almanac and dec/sha of several stars.
WOW did not think of that, a full T-shirt would be plenty.Monica (my wife) has promised me to make a few machine embroidered handkerchiefs with information how to get latitude (lan sextant shot, zenith stars) amplitude of celestial body, compass check, suns bearing relative to LAN, finding south and norht celestial poles, boat speed....
Use of mintaka near rizing and setting to get bearing, and using it for position finding as declination is S0°18' AND SHA 276°50' it is a VERY useful star seen almost everywhere.
she will swap N(x) table for my micro sightreduction table and adding another feature, a "roping" out of 550 paracord around the edge, sadly the protractor/ruler function is lost but i remedied that with a 100mm piece from a quality steel measuring tape in my wallet works great and has a 1m piece of string through it with a knot at 573mm distance making it a graduated khamal.
sadly making that embroidery will take a few weeks as she has to set every stitch by hand.
