John,
I believe that the TRF does not make the assumption:
"that component of estimated track parallel to
LOP1 is completely useless."
It makes the assumption:
"the location along LOP1 is unknown"
Also, looking at your diagram. Using either LOP1 or LOP2 and advancing to LOP3 gives a very good agreement with your EP.
