I've been updating my eqn. of time spreadsheet for 2007 and paging through the almanac looking for a correlation between a zero point for eqn. of time and some easily recognizable celestial event. It has escaped me to date. How was a zero point(s) originally arrived at so the extremes in difference to either side of zero are roughly equal? Is/was it tied to some event, or more or less arbitrary?
