Frank: Evolution didn't cover extremes. A friend who spent a good portion of his life as a professional sailor has developed a severe case of retinal damage. I don't know the medical terminology, but he is nearly blind now. He attributes this to continual exposure to the sun. Not looking at it, just seeing a lot of it reflected off the waves.
