I have four Kollsman periscopic sextants and they were all overhauled in the mid 1980s. One has an electronic averager that replaced the clockwork averager when it was overhauled in 1985. I have an MA-2 which is the same as the periscopic ones but without the periscope tube, it is used hand held, it was manufactured in 1957. The periscopic sextants flooded the market when the US Air Force phased them out about 15 years ago. I bought my first one in a warehouse that was stacked floor to ceiling with them, cost about $100. For many years they were on Ebay going for $50 to $100 but there is none listed as of today.

    I'm surprised.
And the sextants referenced in "FAA-H-8083-18 - Chapter 13 - Sextants and Errors of Observation: The Bubble Sextant, The Periscopic Sextant"?

    - Could you give references about current aircraft sextant manufacturers?

    Nobody makes them anymore.
