It makes you wonder why the FAA paid money in 2011 to write the celnav part of that manual when it is an obsolete method of flight navigation. If you compare it with the 2001 AFPAM 11-216 you will see that it is mainly a copy of that manual with updated illustrations so, hopefully, we taxpayers didn't spend a lot of money on this.

Ok, but is not serious that a FAA 2011 manual is about celestial navigation and aircraft sextants, and these sextants are not made now. I know that Celestaire has in its catalog two bubble sextants -- Andrés Ruiz Navigational Algorithms http://sites.google.com/site/navigationalalgorithms/
