    I have noted just the oposite. The error 9 degrees is a very poor job,
    and useless for navigation.
    It is 9 DEGREES, not minutes!
    My point was that EVEN in XVI century one could NOT determine
    longitude.

    Not much.
    The first serious progress on the Moon was due to Tiho Brahe.
    This was somewhat before Barentsz but I dount that Barentsz could use
    this progress because the tables based on Tycho's discoveries had not
    been published yet.
