    Yes you're right, this is exactly where we get into trouble:

    I'd say it's the traditionalist that are doing the hand waving: No one on the NavList has ventured to justify the traditional reasoning used in assuming the component of the DR track perpendicular LOP1 is exact, while the component of this track parallel to LOP1 is completely unknown. This one unjustifiable assumption can cause the location of RFIX to be way off, as in the 1100 blue sun-line on Greg’s plot (post #23086).

    In making the best estimations possible, we use all the info we have. We use the principles of rational reasoning. What applicable mathematical principles does the EPRF ignore?

    This is the point that took years for the Bayesians to convey to the traditionalists.
