Malcolm Misuraca states: "corrections for movement of the vessel for those who want to reduce the small error induced by the difference in position of the boat between sights before and after noon." The error isn't small. I have experienced disbelief by knowledgable people that significant errors could be induced at sailboat speeds. The first time I tried the method without correction for vessel motion resulted in a seventeen mile error.
