And thanks for your kind words about my solution. Out of curiosity I repeated the computations with all individual sights (instead of averaging). After repeating the same four steps there is only very slight change in the fix: the new position estimate is 46°42.6'N 002°26.7'W (instead of 46°42.8'N 002°27.8'W). The additional watch correction changed by 1s to 916s (and this is now including 3s residual error after the 4th step - I didn't bother with more iterations). So since you've done very consistent sights, the averaging that everybody has been using is quite sound in this case.
