Thanks for your reference to this article.
With O being the center of a sphere and P1 and P2 being ANY two points NON COLINEAR with O (i.e. O, P1, P2 NOT on a straight line), the pole direction of the Great Circle is given by the cross product ("produit vectoriel" as we call it in French) OP1 * OP2.
This can be found in a number of math treaties. As I could not download your referenced article, what is the new idea developped in it ?
