Not sure you're following the saga of the new San Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge new seismic spans. They found defective bolts. From a description, I made this Solidworks jpg to show the size of the bolts. The diameter was found by using ImageJ and comparing them to a human visible in one photo. Inspired by horizon finding using photos by Frank(?)
They must replace hundreds of them which are embedded in concrete. Have no idea how they will do it. If they could accelerate electrolysis or melt them out with a current?
