The answer is yes , at least during the WW2 era and later. (I
suspect the same symbols are still in use today).

Subject: [NavList] German navigational notation
In looking at the photos of the HR-1 I noticed that the symbol used for
declination is the lower case Greek letter "delta" and for latitude
the lower case "phi." I am curious if this is a standard notation for
German navigators.
