Attached is a page from an old Power Squadrons course, showing two examples of how Great Circle initial course and distance by the Law of Cosines used to be taught. The forms include the formulas and
most instructions. (DLo is considered West (+) if the shorter distance from Lo1 to Lo2 is westward. Examples show West and East cases.)
